Event Planning & Marketing Venue (Photograph)

I have been tending to one of those entrepreneurial events called a garage sale. Part of the marketing ploy beyond Craigslist is stapling and nailing your signage to a pole, which points the way to the place, time, and event. Sometimes there are so many nails and staples in the telephone pole that one can barely gain purchase when attempting to place your hand crafted cardboard sign. Oh, please don’t admonish me about the illegality of it all…

A Poppy That Survived The Beat Down

This photograph is not so great from a photographic perspective. Why I took it, is that after all the very heavy rains this past week all the poppy’s but one were beaten down to the flower bed. One survived and stood tall. I snapped a quick shot…a the ‘glass is half full’ shot. My Aunt died this past February. She so loved her poppy plant.

A Glorious Trout: Olive & Red

You often see the photos of fish, the trophy fish. Impressive for sure. But some fish, less than trophy size, can momentarily make us gaze at their simple, yet  complex beauty. It is perfection when we can briefly glimpse all their beauty…a brief encounter. A trophy in a different way………………..

PHOTOGRAPHY: The Beautiful Efforts of Dmitrii Lezine

THE TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY OF DMITRII LEZINE

The Columbia River Gorge, the Women’s Forum Viewpoint and in the distance Crown Point. My backyard….less than a half hour from my driveway. Photo by Dmitrii Lezine.

“This blog is a labor of love. The photography hobby of mine is a labor of love. I try to post a new photo at least every other day, sometimes more, sometimes less. It requires a lot of time investment and unless I didn’t really liked to take photos and share them with everyone else, this blog would not be here.

So thanks for stopping by and taking a look at different places that I had a chance to visit. Every photo was taken because I thought it was cool and unique in its own way. You can look at different categories on the right side of the blog, pick your destination and see what I saw. I get a chance to travel only a few times per year, vacation is precious time, and I try to pick places where I have not been before or visit the same places during different season.”

Trailer Art by Paige Bridges

A while back, I posted re my Aunt and Uncle (both departed) camping in a little home made trailer and fly fishing along the way. This morning, I came upon some work by Paige Bridges she calls ‘trailer art‘. Whether you grew up tent camping (that’s how I camped as a kid) or were around trailers or campers, these paintings of by gone times will resonate of long ago observations…check them out.

Sugar Shack by Paige Bridges

My Aunt in their version of the Sugar Shack...I'm sure. This home made trailer was a bright spot in my uncle and aunt's life as they camped and fly fished.

Art & Pencil on Paper: Paul Cadden

Paul Cadden Sketch

“Cadden is a student of the hyperrealism movement.  Where as photorealists strive to meticulously recreate an image, artists of the hyperrealist bent add their own emotions and narrative to take it to another level. “Intensify the normal” is how Cadden describes his process.” (more info/drawings of Cadden)

Fly Tying: The Feather Affair in Palm Springs

Oh, I do hate writing about this subject, that seemed the obligatory piece this past year or so….fly tying’s feather shortage ‘crisis’. I had noticed in the Portland area that the feather fashion craze had seemingly faded away, although you could still see the feather earrings and the rare feather insert into some young woman’s hair. While visiting the Village Fest, the Flea Mart last week in Palm Springs, and in numerous shops, I was struck by the wide availability of feathers this and that, as well as long strands of flashabou/krystal flash like products for hair insertions.

This over priced Peacock monstrosity was one of several on display along with hundreds of feathered jewelry pieces by just one vendor amongst many I observed. Was this some marketing push in advance of the Coachella Fest?

Upon casually assessing some several thousand young women on Spring break, I don’t think I saw but a few with any feather earrings or hair insertions. There seems to be a large supply of feather adornments for sale…..but any demand?

What was noticeable in this feather affair was the absence of high quality rooster feathers and the predominant use of lower grade feathers.
