I came across this dramatic photograph by ‘ns’…from there I traced ‘ns’ to ‘natsar’ and finally to Natalia Sarkissian. What beautiful work from this woman. A pleasant discovery…
Please visit the other work by Natalia Sarkissian

Should I go light and quick? Get in and get out? Or, delve into….well, no never mind. To all the mom’s out there bless you. You try your hardest and you pay a price. You are a gift to us all. I pray you all have a lovely Mother’s Day. I pray your children and those that are part of your life, your loves, pay respects to you…to sincerely let you know how lovely you are as a force in your children’s lives.

Machu Picchu, in Peru, has always intrigued me. It is the visuals and then the questions of history playing out. The jagged peaks, the green, the structures, the terraces combine to provide and inviting place to gaze out and take it all in. Except I have read enough to know I should have made the trip a few years back given the altitude and ailments equation. None the less, Amie made the journey and has some unique shots and more to follow, it appears. Check out the photography and imagine.
“The mountain that you see in the majority of the photos of Machu Picchu is Huayna Picchu. There is another temple and terrace complex on it. And if you buy your ticket in advance, you can climb it! The only let 200 people a day do the climb, and before we got to Peru, we were debating if we wanted to. The way our legs were feeling like jelly as we walked around the Park, we were glad that you had to buy tickets in advance, because there was no way we would be making it up.” (Let’s Be Friends, Let’s Be Amie)
Well, I am honored by, Teri (FlyFishBrat) at Recipes From My Kitchen, who has nominated me for a blogging award…The Versatile Blogger Award. Not having received a lot of recognition for writing about what I so love, this is different.
I just received the coveted Sunshine Award for my Hoarding Woes blog site. All this in one week makes me think my ‘versatile’ side is showing. I am truly thankful Teri for your kindness and effort to pass it on.
So, when one receives one of these awards there are a few requirements that go along with the award. You provide a few (7) details about yourself and then you select those blogs you feel are worthy of this award. The latter is very difficult because there are so many worthy writers out there. But, the point is to pass on a bit of kindness and smiles isn’t it.
So, first a few things about me: (1) I am a rare commodity in Portland, Oregon…I was born and raised here and still live here; (2) I often find myself surrounded by two dogs (Emma & Harley) and a cat (Penelope) at night so I really never get to stretch out at night; also, every morning between 5:55am and 6:05am Penny and Emma conspire to wake me up for breakfast (I did not teach them to tell time…I blame Harley); (3) My favorite flowers are Roses and Fuchsia because they were my parents and I am sentimental about such things; (4) I hate Judge Judy; (5) I have two tattoos and plan on more, but will need to be greatly inspired for the next time…nothing so far; (6) my favorite historian is Gale Ontko, who wrote the Thunder Over the Ochoco series…and I have visited his grave in a small cemetery East of Prineville, Oregon; (7) I prefer Beef ribs over Pork ribs.
My nominees for The Versatile Blogger Award are as follows:
1. Winona Fly Factory (inquisitive & innovative)
2. Mysteries Internal (Erin is a wonderful writer)
3. Planet Trout (way more than fly fishing…old Hollywood there too)
4. Bail Fly (exquisite artistry)
5. Fresh Start (starting over)
6. MiddleScapes (BlessedBeBeth)
7. Graham Owen Photography (beauty)
8. Stella Marr (Anti-Prostitution Efforts)
9. Urge To Wander (Visual Passion)
10. Val Millett (Paradise Found)
“Welcome to my blog. My name is Madhu. I love design. I design interiors for a living (At least I did, till I took a long sabbatical!) I love reading and I love desserts. But travel is my passion. I cannot imagine life without travel. This blog hopes to convey some of that passion, to inspire you to spread your wings. This is home to some of my journeys. This is what I saw.” Urge to Wander

Today, you are on the eve of a fun blogging challenge first “hatched” by Chadd over at How Small a Trout. It will be an interesting collaboration of outdoor bloggers, who will write about topics/themes from their creative perceptions. Chad also solicited the aid of Memoirs of a Fly Girl and Miss P at Fresh Start to help promote the challenge.
Today, Fresh Start posted an interesting piece about her journey into fly fishing and its associated pursuits (fly tying, volunteerism, clubs, outings, photography, friendship). Check it out and encourage women to try out fly fishing. It is definitely an outdoor endeavor user friendly to women.

Check out the theme/topics list at any of the 3 sponsors or here at SwittersB. Do your best to post about each daily topic. To accept the challenge and pass it on, reblog this kick-off post and graphic, then tag your May posts with “every day in May”. The sponsors will post a list of everyone who guts it out until June.
The Agitated Angler and The Limp Cobra are helping get the word out about the Every Day in May Challenge to outdoor bloggers. Agitated Angler writes: “This is a really cool concept and I’m sure I won’t be able take all of these subjects on (time constraints and screaming children and all), but I bet it’ll be fun trying. Check it out if you haven’t yet!”
That’s right, please check out the topics/theme list and let the free flowing writing ideas move those fingers on the keyboard…….
Yesterday, you will note, I highlighted the Every Day in May blogging challenge. Every day in May there will be a topic/theme and you, on your blog, strive to write about the topic as you see fit. One of the instigators of this fun concept is Marci Cisneros over at Memoirs of a Fly Girl.
In checking out her blog this morning, I came upon a post entitled ‘Grandpa’. In reading it, I was moved by the simple story. Perhaps the recent journeys I have been through the past five years? Perhaps seeing an elder’s life before you as possibly your outcome some day?
“Yesterday, I drove down to Grandpa’s house to show him my new fly fishing equipment (an overdue visit). I arrive with a confession in tote, “I think fly fishing is going to be good for me.” I continue, that I think it will allow me to focus and yet dive into a greater self than working long hours, studying into the night or polishing off a good bottle of vodka with friends. He responds rather quickly with, “nothing compares to a good drink with good friends.” ~the rest~
Lots of possibilities, for me. Give Memoirs of a Fly Girl a look and feel the positive spirit….and participate in the Every Day in May blogging challenge.

Check out the Every Day in May topics list at How Small a Trout, Fresh Start & Memoirs of a Fly Girl.
Every Day in May challenge has been offered up by three fly fishing bloggers, who want your input each day of May. Your challenge? Take that topics list and each day of the month will challenge you to write about that day’s theme (or some variation of it). Keep it short and sweet. Make us think. Make us wish. Make us laugh. Maybe make us wonder.
The inspiration for this great concept is coming at you from three directions:
How Small a Trout, Memoirs of a Fly Girl & Miss P over at Fresh Start. “Every Day in May is a blogging throw-down to all fishing and outdoor bloggers.“
“CHALLENGE: POST TO YOUR BLOG EVERY DAY IN MAY. Mayfly
hatches, spring runoff, spawning fish, tulips, debauched May Day pagan
rituals—blog it all. Blog to learn, blog to remember, blog to forget.
Document May in images, words, quotes, links, whatever, wherever.
We’re providing prompts for each day, but feel free to interpret,
misinterpret, reject, or improvise on these themes. To accept the
challenge and pass it on, reblog this kick-off post and graphic, then
<strong>tag your May posts with “every day in May”. We’ll
post a list of everyone who guts it out until June.”
