Tonya Harding Pregnant & then ………………..

I awakened this morning to the dizzyingly, terrific news that the NW skating ‘legend’ Tonya Harding (Price) is pregnant. I was ecstatic over the trash gene pool being extended in the Pacific NW. Then again, maybe there is another triple axle gene in there. Then my day descended, as my week pretty much has, (did anyone notice some odd forces at play this week? Full moon stuff?) into a morass of regrets. Two days ago, my Blackberry completed its’ own triple axle into the toilet and despite all manner of efforts to dry it out, it is kaput. But, things were about to get worse.

Now, an immensely bigger fumble on my part: I transferred hundreds upon hundreds of family pics from my computer to an external hard drive to free up needed gigs. I have done this before. No probs. So, as I moved a folder over into the external gizmo (without verifying they actually loaded!…they always had before) I ERASED the folder from my computer. On and on I went freeing up 20 gigs of space…..that is  how many pics I had stashed on the hard drive.

Woe is me! They did not load for whatever reason. I cannot find them cued up and waiting. Gone. Some, many of these photo’s, were priceless treasures.Hundreds of pics of flies too.

So, verify the transfer, then and only then dump the duplicate folders. Ok, maybe I was too hard on Tonya Harding.

Update re my stupid move: Well, at least I did one thing correctly…I had previously subscribed to Carbonite. Well, despite the fact that I had indeed deleted the entire files, Carbonite had originally backed up those pics and based upon a tip from FB pal Mara, I found them. The restore mode will take awhile, but it will be worth the wait.

No, I recently ran into an old acquaintance from another life of say 25 years ago. A life boxed and compartmentalized for  sanity’s sake. He remarked about some ol’ timers he had run into from the old, hard days and how those men all were stuck back in negativity and the past. We shook our heads knowing it was wasteful, but looking over our shoulder to be careful negativity was not looming. I raised my glass to that old friend and saluted where we had been, and more importantly, where we were now. In the present! To the past (if you can remember it) and to the present and future. Rough up that fabric. Oh, psycho babble aside, if the lid on the box is ajar; close it.

Pebble Mine’s Reality Check (China)

I can by no means frame the contentious Pebble Mine debate any better than the article I am linking to in this post by Andrew Jensen @ The Alaska Journal of Commerce. Seriously take a few minutes to read it and consider the realities here. Whether the mining process moves forward or not based upon celebs, fishing industry, eviro’s and FFers input is, to me, frankly insignificant. The often ignored point is China. It is being ignored in our country’s current debt debate and financial crisis by many. China now owns us. China is one of the largest consumers of resources and will surpass us and India soon to consume the majority of natural resources. China will eventually own the majority interest in Pebble Mine. Yes. (China & Mining & Fishing) (China & Gold Production)

“So while China is snapping up mineral rights for essentials like copper and stockpiling its rare earth minerals — for which the U.S. is 100 percent dependent on imports — not developing Pebble may not be a luxury America can afford forever, according to Yale professor Oswald Schmitz.” (I say we won’t have a say because China will dictate the development for us)

So, with all the notable celebs and groups that have mounted anti Pebble attention why no substantive response from the Obama Administration. They (Dem’s) have held the power since 2006 (Congressional) and Executive since 2008. Why? The usual connect the media dots by such groups re all manner of fav issues is most often enough to result in legislation or executive orders for regulations to control most aspects of our life, especially in the last two years. Token BS about innovation for green this and that; wind turbines, solar…yadda yadda.  Why nothing substantive on Pebble Mine? The sense of urgency should be about our financial house of cards, our resources (managed or not) and China. Just a matter of time re the Pebble Mine holdings and China’s insertion into the mix. Then what?

Dear me, spare yourself the mind twisting experience of that amazing ensemble cast that takes your brain on a ride on Shameless on Showtime. Watch it if you dare. William H. Macy will win an Emmy. The cast is top to bottom amazing. Kids in it…not for kids <14 or so (depending upon your threshold for explicit sex, suggested sex).

Nothing to do with fly fishing, fly tying, outdoors? It is why the hell you thank your lucky stars and turn toward the solace of the rod and water.  You won’t find balance, harmony, mellow here. Ok, back to normal….

Now you see why I don’t do movie, music, TV reviews……. Ok, I had  a few too many Stoli’s and Cranberry juice bebida’s. Actually, I posted this yesterday with a, I thought, creative, edgy, over the top string of obscenities and uncomfortable visuals following the “akin to….” part. I was quickly overcome with some latent, Catholic guilt thing and cleaned it up. Not as edgy as I thought.

I was walking, in a hurry. I glimpsed to the right and saw the old Pioneer Courthouse. I pulled out the ol’ crackberry and snapped a shot. It turned out pretty darn good. I especially like the blue balloon drifting across the square. Tonight they lit the 75′ Christmas tree provided by Stimson Lumber. It occupies the center of the square, in the middle of the shot. Given more time a better shot would have been likely, but this was on the fly, a random shot. Darn light post!

Update: How ironic I post this yesterday and some piece of mierda was plotting to blow up the square! News Piece! Chingate! Mohamed Osman Mohamud! Bomb Plot. Car Bomb. FBI did not entrap.

Deschutes River Pricks?

Month Back: Hey, to the two fly guy pricks that upon exiting the Deschutes River, near the Blue Hole…. cut the brake line of the car belonging to the two black fly fishermen you passed on the way out: You’re pricks! YOU may recall who you were, you met the black fly fishermen in John Hazel’s Shop (Amy working). Hazel, perhaps you remember the black guys in your shop and perhaps the pricks that were there too.

Then you pricks and only you, fished near the black fishermen on the river. The tow bill, the enormous inconvenience, the obvious act of fucking racists. I would cap your fucking ass. Don’t bother providing any qualifiers re Hazel…not the issue. Just may help someone identify them for the WCSO/OSP (Report filed).
