Not Back At Camp Reading

Not Back At Camp Reading

I do believe this young woman (April) can fish! Check out the blog for women flyfishing (for real) and the one that is a guide shows she can put it all together. The blog shows the vitality and fun that is pleasing to view.

Take Me Fishing!

“….oh hell nothing is refined about sockeye fishing…but it is great fun to fight those tasty chrome fish on an 8 wt fly rod, beach them, and bonk them. I must admit that I really like to bonk fish….I really kind of like ripping their gills and bleeding them. I think that is the provider instinct in me. Yep, I am sure of it…”

500,000 US Women Go Fly Fishing

June 5, 2008 – Source: New York Times
A Fish and Wildlife Service survey revealed that nearly 500,000 US women fly fish, the New York Times reported. Sixteen percent of the female angling population is buying more from fly-fishing retailers than ever before.

“We’ve seen a growth in women buying women-specific products in traditinally male-dominated industries,” said Julia Clark Day of the Leisure Trends Group.

Fly selection and presentation (two special points)

Fly selection..take your time

Fly selection..take your time

http://busterwantstofish.com/?p=1040

A critical aspect of flyfishing is matching the hatch or selecting a fly suitable to the habitat before you (sans a hatch). We can become easily distracted by all manner of stimuli….gear, process, elements, people, boobs. But matching the fly and/or presentation to the water before you is all that matters. Do not become distracted….no really, look here….do not become distracted. Ok, whatever… I think I like freckles. Next time, I may discuss natural v. synthetic components. I think they both have their merits.

Due North (Flyfishing’s inherent pull)

Magnetic Pull

Magnetic Pull

Points abound all over the world for the ultimate flyfishing experience. But, if you steelhead fish, then you do know the magnetic draw of the North. A pull toward Washington and onward into the vahalla of B.C., even into parts of Alaska. The picture denotes a gateway to wild potential. I have never experienced these premier rivers, probably never will. I do know and listen to young guns that are exploring the fabled waters now. They do have that goofy look when talking about it. I suspect that part of the draw, beyond the silver beauties, is the powerful scenery that compliments the possibilities of attaching to another form of powerful beauty.
