Fishing With Rod (British Columbia Flyfishing Resource)

http://www.fishingwithrod.com/ (It isn’t only flyfishing, but definitely provides good info re BC and beyond destinations. Rod appears to be an emerging, creative force in his own right. Check out his Cutthroat efforts in SE B.C.)

NW Spider Bites (It is that time of year)

Hobo Spider, a.k.a. Aggressive House Spider

Hobo Spider~NW Menace

Hobo Spider~NW Menace

It is that time of year, spiders are busy building webs, off the web and into those shrubs and flowers you will soon be cutting back, or crawling about your house walls, floors or yikes! under your sheets (how do they get inside and upstairs and under your sheets?). Watch it as you brush up against those flowers and turn down the bedding once in awhile at night (doesn’t that just make your ankle twitch?) and search for the buggers.

Yellow Dog (Save The Wild UP)

“Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” — Albert Einstein

“Acid mine drainage has already polluted more than 12,000 miles of rivers and streams and over 180,000 acres of lakes and impoundments in the U.S.”

http://www.savethewildup.org/facts/?id=19 (I’m passing on this site re efforts to stop mining or control mining in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I have not been able to determine the behind the scenes motives of the group (beyond the environmental concerns…see, I look at that and see if the eco aspect is a vehicle for a larger agenda (Leftist…Green=Red) or their primary focus is to protect a watershed (fine by me)). They provide maps, statistics and data regard mining and leaching concerns.

This data may be of interest to those still researching Pebble Mine and compliance with environmental laws and regulations. Study everything I have posted re Pebble Mine and Yellow Dog re dangers of post processing. Safety records are mentioned. I believe objective assessment of dangers is needed based upon existing track records and then pressure brought to force compliance in the beginning of development and during the ongoing process. I would be curious if any BC eco groups are monitoring Highland Valley Copper Mine and what their experiences have been.
