I am avoiding the upright wings of split hackle tips or mallard barbs. I am aware the silhouette of upright wings is often called for. Also, this was slightly lower grade cock hackle…not quite stiff enough. So, still happy with the wrapped abdomen of peacock herl quill. The tail also, needs stiffer barbs or fibbets. Almost there. Well, at least for my undisciplined self.
Makes me feel like I am not the only one who is just doing what I love..like you say, the fish don’t see what the lens is so critical of. I like all your work Gary.

I have been visiting this site for sometime. What I enjoy is the sharing of the excellent, good, so-so and not so good. No pretense on your part. No representation as an expert. You are a good conduit of others, but don’t ever sell yourself short. You know your stuff. I know I would gladly fish with you anytime, anywhere. Thanks for expanding my fly tying and my fly fishing world. I hope your Summer levels off and some renewal time slips into your life. Thanks
