Every Day in May Challenge: Express Your Self

Every Day in May challenge has been offered up by three fly fishing bloggers, who want your input each day of May. Your challenge? Take that topics list and each day of the month will challenge you to write about that day’s theme (or some variation of  it). Keep it short and  sweet. Make us think. Make us wish. Make us laugh. Maybe make us wonder.

The inspiration for this great concept is coming at you from three directions:

How Small a Trout, Memoirs of a Fly Girl & Miss P over at Fresh Start. “Every Day in May is a blogging throw-down to all fishing and outdoor bloggers.

“CHALLENGE: POST TO YOUR BLOG EVERY DAY IN MAY. Mayfly
hatches, spring runoff, spawning fish, tulips, debauched May Day pagan
rituals—blog it all. Blog to learn, blog to remember, blog to forget.
Document May in images, words, quotes, links, whatever, wherever.
We’re providing prompts for each day, but feel free to interpret,
misinterpret, reject, or improvise on these themes. To accept the
challenge and pass it on, reblog this kick-off post and graphic, then
<strong>tag your May posts with “every day in May”. We’ll
post a list of everyone who guts it out until June.”

To all you who blog about other stuff, like knitting or wine or fancy
mice: feel free to copy this idea and do your own Every Day In May!

So, come on. Note the topics and each and every day of May take that topic for a short spin on your blog. Mention the Every Day in May challenge. Enlist others to exercise their creative side along with you. Hit the FB tag, re-post this, do your own post about it, please spread the word.

Fly Tying: Gary Borger’s Simple Wet

Fly tying, for the beginner, for all of us, can become ever more complicated in search of the perfect morsel. This pattern by Gary Borger is quite simple and I bet productive. It is open to color/size variations. A nice pattern to tie and fish for the beginner…for anyone actually.

Earthquakes, Mayan Calendar & Bora Bora

With all the end of the world and the Mayan Calendarpredictions‘, 2012 promises to be an eventful year for the doomsayers. I noticed on the news this morning that NASA reportedly had an early warning system via GPS stations all over the U.S. in high risk areas.

12-21-2012

I started some cursory research and once I waded through the UFO, Mayan Calendar and Zombie Invasion (maybe those are Occupy peop’s) I came upon the NASA GPS press release. Actually, upon reading the press release, NASA is, I believe, suggesting the GPS sensors are not for predicting earthquakes, as the news suggested, but rather better determining the intensity and location for post earthquake responses by emergency management.

Another study was just released suggesting the ionosphere may hold the key to pointing to earthquakes in advance of the event. Scientist are divided, of course, but some suggest that electromagnetic disturbances in the ionosphere have arisen just prior to sizeable earthquakes.

Pick your poison to worry about: Mayan Calendar predictions, Big Government, Global Climate Change, Polar Bears, Genetic Engineering of our Foods….I personally would like to see improved abilities to predict tornados, better water quality management (but not oppressive, obscene reg’s) and to know if I would be safe on Bora Bora if the Mayan Calendar predictions are in deed true.
