Writing: Fly Fishing, Grandpa & A Connection for Life

Yesterday, you will note, I highlighted the Every Day in May blogging challenge. Every day in May there will be a topic/theme and you, on your blog, strive to write about the topic as you see fit. One of the instigators of this fun concept is Marci Cisneros over at Memoirs of a Fly Girl.

In checking out her blog this morning, I came upon a post entitled ‘Grandpa’. In reading it, I was moved by the simple story. Perhaps the recent journeys I have been through the past five years? Perhaps seeing an elder’s life before you as possibly your outcome some day?

“Yesterday, I drove down to Grandpa’s house to show him my new fly fishing equipment (an overdue visit).  I arrive with a confession in tote, “I think fly fishing is going to be good for me.” I continue, that I think it will allow me to focus and yet dive into a greater self than  working long hours, studying into the night or polishing off a good bottle of vodka with friends.  He responds rather quickly with, “nothing  compares to a good drink with good friends.”  ~the rest~

Lots of possibilities, for me. Give Memoirs of a Fly Girl a look and feel the positive spirit….and participate in the Every Day in May blogging challenge.

Check out the Every Day in May topics list at How Small a Trout, Fresh Start & Memoirs of a Fly Girl.

That is so nice! Thanks for sharing. In the hustle and bustle of day to day living in the 21st century, many people have their eyes open for activities that provide a much needed break from rushed routines. In this regard, when it comes to a sport that can be enjoyed by all members of a family, it’s fly fishing. Fly fishing has enjoyed continuous popularity with people of all ages — from grandpas to children who have barely learned to walk. Interesting!

I liked Marci’s post about her grandpa — he looks like the prototype grandpa upon which all other grandpas were based.
