Erratic stripping of a streamer pattern, whether on a river or lake rarely fails to produce a strike. The streamer pattern could be swung cross current on a river or trolled at a uniform speed on a lake. The addition of jerks, pulses, pauses and streaks in the presentation will lend more life to the presentation, beyond a swinging or trolling fly.
Oh, and originally I meant to say provocative so interesting that proactive is what was needed and proactive is what we got.

Gary, At the risk of being overly proactive, although not my intent, I find your streamer pattern very ‘alluring’ . I have’t fished since I was a teen, but if I ever do I want some of these bad boys in my bait box. thanks for firing up my imagination.

Well ‘proactive’ I will take to be focused and excited by the chase, the enticing of the fish. The streamer is not an insect…it is a similar species…so fish eating fish. Very predatory. Very aggressive. So ‘alluring’ I will leave to you to decide the why but is it seducing the predatory/alpha in the fish to attack and consume. As for your ‘bait box’, well the Streamer is sometimes referred to as ‘bait fish’ although usually of a different species. So, fill your fly box with a few streamer patterns that are alluring and seductive and yummy for a fish to view, chase, attack and try to kill/consume. You get to enjoy the take, the force, the power, the ‘gotcha’ on the end of that leader. All enjoyable, especially if you look at the fooled one, admire them and let them go.

Gary, I am forever your humble fan. Very wonderful food for thought. I am going to copy this out, paste it in my journal and give it the consideration that it deserves.
Also great gentle re-direction of my rudimentary to non existent fishing terminology. Good teaching strategy. I am smiling, and thank you for that.
