A few years ago, I spent considerable time researching my family lineage on my Mom and Dad’s sides. It was a very rewarding experience and I recommend it to anyone with a knack at digging into details and relishing the discoveries.
During this genealogical exercise, I made some interesting discoveries re the family that many had never heard about: arrests for horse thieving, moonshine adventures and outwitting revenuers, some form of contact with Pocahontas in England (yes, she lived in Middlesex, England for a brief time), on and on went the very interesting discoveries….but, none quite like this (well, at least I don’t think so):
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be
satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
