Oh, I don’t think you’re going to hell for catching a fish and letting him go. Or for taking fish to eat. It’s the corporate torture that is shameful and wrong. We don’t live in a perfect world, but I would be happier of folks stopped torturing beagles and caging barn owls. Jesus… Maybe, I’ll come back in a thousand years and check us out. Think we will have evolved?

This is a tricky one, while I wholeheartedly condemn the barbaric treatment of animals used in experiments. I do fine it hard to come out of it all squeaky clean and with my righteousness intact. I still fish and long ago I used to kill what I caught for the pot to eat. So the scenario went something like this I cast I hook a trout I bring it to the shore against all its struggling. I take it out of its natural environment remark on what a beautiful specimen it is then proceed to bash its brains in with a brass rod. Oooh…I am not proud of myself, I haven’t killed a fish for so long now, I just can’t. But catching and playing a fish for my own enjoyment does that mean I am a cruel person maybe it does. I have battled with this long and hard and I still fish, so therefore I don’t think I am in a position to condemn others even though inside I abhor them.

Oh, don’t think that hasn’t occurred to me as well…tormenting, fear, struggle etc. Ah the noble release so it’s alright…right? I also have not killed a fish in years…even hatchery fish. I would probably take a salmon in Alaska. But, again, I spent the money to get there so the kill has to be done to justify the expense. That said…somehow the research abhors me. More than a slaughter house. Just the many layers of rationalizatios and avoidance I suppose.

      not really that tricky-

a person makes a choice…is a thing good or bad…do i do it or do i do it anyway?

then you live with your choice and take the consequences if there are any.

what we are looking at here is institutionalized abuse for profit. most people are unaware of the actual process. it’s hidden and it continues because it is.

years ago there were two concerns on the same highway west of town. one was a high dollar biotech company operating behind gates, guards and wire. the other was a family raising minks. the biotech is still in operation and still tormenting animals for the “greater good” while the mink “farm” was closed because somebody’s kids wandered in and saw dead minks being ground up to feed live minks.

      awareness made the difference.

most of us build up some serious kharmic debt, but i hope there is a special hell for the folks who torment living things for a better oven cleaner.

it’s three in the morning.. the dogs are awake because the raccoons are eating bird food outside our bedroom door . they just can’t conceive of the idea of our sleeping through their excitement.

then there is you…you are really on a roll aren’t you?

wolves for “sport”. here it’s the mountain lions the state spent so much time and effort saying didn’t exist. personally i wish they’d kept lying to us.

a yellowstone apocalypse destroying ninety percent of the world worth living in.

    now beagles,

if you’ve ever lived with beagles you know they are smarter and more empathetic than most of the other creatures you have shared space with.

as concepts go “the greater good” is probably the most used/abused justification for evil used by corporations and governments.

tormenting other living creatures to test the efficacy of something to replace baking soda and vinegar is total crap.

perhaps an extinction level event is in order.

most of the beagles i know would survive it on wits alone.

hell, they’d probably be lounging on our sofas and having cockroaches bringing them twinkies.

well that’s enough moral outrage for one day.

    the dogs finally laid down.

    i’m going back to bed.

Disgusting! Shame on those cruel fools, no genius in there, just plain ignorance and greed…
