“Habit rules the unreflecting herd.” William Wordsworth

“Bewilderment increases in the presence of the mirrors.” Tarjei Vesaas

“There’s just something unsettling about studying your reflection. It’s not a matter of being dissatisfied with your face or of being embarrassed by your vanity. Maybe it’s that when you gaze into your own eyes, you don’t see what you wish to see—or glimpse something that you wish weren’t there.” Dean Koontz

On a more positive note: I was attending a yard/garden show. One vendor, his first such show, was displaying assorted wooden designs. This starburst pattern caught my eye because the mirrors were so beautifully inlaid that at first I thought I was looking through the holes until I realized I was looking at the reflections of the nearby grass. The pieces were unique from the usual copy cat/cookie cutter yard art one finds. And, yes there are those times we actually like what we see.
