“There is greater clarity in the still waters of sadness, something not found in the babbling brooks of more sought after emotions.” Shaun Hicks
We run from the darkness. Once immersed in the dark hole of depression, we crawl, walk, run to never grace that dark doorstep again. Dare we look back, once safely sane, healed and gather the lessons and share them in love of others? I think so. Love is more powerful in the end. Fragile though we be, there is strength in having endured that cold place of despair.
Okay to look back after healing, integrating, that trauma memory has lost power.
Happiness though, as we have learned is available only in this present moment then that opportunity moves to the next moment.
Perusing in the past is called dissociation, the most formidable symptom of PTSD, where it powers up as we grasp the past with worry, fear and doubt.
A Buddhist quote asks,
Can you wait till the mud settles and the answer appears.
I have employed and practiced this, is awkward as hell, like anything new, but with some drive and desire to be free, healed and happy change takes place.
