A lovely blue wildflower in Joshua Tree National Park near Lizard Rock. I cannot identify the variety. It does not appear, to this novice, to be a blue bell, blue dick, lupine, chia or Fremont phacelia….the blues of my desert plant guide (for novices). Perhaps someone will know exactly what it is.
Update 4/21/2015: while checking out the Joshua Tree NP Wildflower status report, I came upon an image for Larkspur that seems to closely resemble my image. Perhaps one in the same?
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be
satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
