Whitaker Ponds

The Whitaker Ponds Nature Park is located in NE Portland and connects to the Columbia Slough. It looks to be an excellent area to explore for birds, native plants, wildlife amidst the black cottonwoods and ponds.

Love Portland and the Columbia River area. Lived in Portland twice in my lifetime. I remember getting a lot of rain in Portland. Nice photo.

Yes, at times the grey skies close in and can get a bit gloomy, but all in all having lived here my whole life…it is a beautiful area to live. If one escapes a few times a year, that helps too 🙂 The Summer, once it arrives lasts well into October.

C. S. Lewis on Do Gooder Tyranny

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
