That is the Golden Stone(fly)…coming sooner will be the Salmon Fly/California Stone which is much bigger. A frenzy of fly fishers, stoneflies and trout converge in Western Rivers…the Golden was on the Deschutes River in Oregon. Arkansas’ White River is world renowned for Brown Trout fishing. I am not sure if a stonefly hatch/emergence takes place on the White R.
Lived on the White River. that flows through Batesville, Arkansas years ago. Spent many hours on the banks of the White River, have never seen the stone fly on this river. I may have just missed seeing it. My husband has fished the White River often.
It looks scary but very cool.

They are prehistoric looking but they don’t bite or sting….just crawl along
