Lived near that beautiful Columbia River for years when I was young. Told my daughter I have to get her and her family up there someday. No one knows how beautiful that area is unless they have been there. The Sailing looked like such fun. Beautiful picture.

Yes, we do take it for granted. Out of town guests use to be taken ‘up the Gorge’ and ‘to the beach’. Now not so much because it if taken for granted by a new generation into food carts, restaurants and gentrified streets and shops.

C. S. Lewis on Do Gooder Tyranny

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
