Old Cenntennial Mill

Portland-Cenntennial Mills-old dock-Willamette-SwittersB

The Cenntennial Mills operated from 1910 until 2000. The old mill is scheduled for demolition to make way for a waterfront project adjacent to the Willamette River, in Portland, Oregon. However, apparently the demolition of the aged facility might be problematic in the year ahead.

It was probably a like a rock in the day…but if you look closely some of the pilings are rotted off, which may cause the structure to tumble into the river.

C. S. Lewis on Do Gooder Tyranny

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
