empty room…

could be the beginning of new possibilities…paint to blinds and furniture. For others, it is a stark reminder of the past. Now empty, the room’s energies and memories seep away of what was. Particles etched into mind, the heart.

Portland horse rings…

Contractor Specs, City of Portland, November 2007. “Salvage any metal horse rings encountered during curb removal. Reinstall horse ring assembly back at the same project stationing or as close as practical. If no new curb is constructed, deliver horse ring assemblies to the City’s Maintenance Bureau…”

In this instance the sidewalk/curbing appears to have been poured in 1910.

Some imaginative folks come up with uses that are very Portland..(image by Jan Landis). Of course, toy horses and circus animals have been used too.

hospital window…

from a hospital room and waiting….and all that goes with those moments of contemplating, replaying, rewinding, once again, looking out the window at the blustery sky, as blustery as the heart of late. Someone’s life, one’s own life in summation.

Merry Christmas…

to all the wonderful people here that share their inspirations and passions. Along the way, you touch our hearts and minds, if not even deeper. Bless you all for sharing your love and your selves!

Better times….

‘Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and the traveller, thousands of miles away, back to his own fire-side and his quiet home!’ Charles Dickens, The Pickwick Papers

a gift to others….

“The planting of a tree, especially one of the long-living hardwood trees, is a gift which you can make to posterity at almost no cost and with almost no trouble, and if the tree takes root it will far outlive the visible effect of any of your other actions, good or evil.” George Orwell

How many have you planted?

A historical note: a gentleman, up in the tree trimming branches, was killed some years ago and fell to the base of the tree.
