I sometimes think that if you had the skills to graph the economic topology of an geographic area you could map the topography of derelict architecture in rural areas. kind of like a golden hour calculator.

the failure of somebody’s dream by their own hand is one thing but most of these locations seem to occur because of the dominance of corporations in one form or another.

I’ve been told in the coffee shop that business is business.

    I suppose it is.

at any rate it makes for some interesting photography.

I think you are right about that. In this instance, it was early opportunities in this area and then the prime spot moved down river 100 miles. Some remained behind. I love the who, why, what aspect of old structures. Hope you are well….thanks

I watched an old barn here in Arkansas, over a period of 2 years, slowly fall to the ground. I always wonder about the history behind all these old buildings.

C. S. Lewis on Do Gooder Tyranny

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
