Snake River below Hells Canyon Dam

SwittersB-Snake R.-SwittersB

Took this pic in October, 1991 while fishing the Snake River for late Summer Steelhead that had made their way up the Columbia R. and into the Snake R. Beautiful scenery and a great deal of history re mining and Native Americans was learned along the way.

Below Hells Canyon Dam, above Wild Sheep Rapids. I tweaked the image a bit re the sky and brightened it a bit. We put in below the dam and worked our way down and back in a friend’s jet boat.

From what I can see (it is very small and doesn’t open larger) it looks like a lovely scene.

C. S. Lewis on Do Gooder Tyranny

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
