Graham Crackers…

“The graham cracker was inspired by the preaching of Sylvester Graham who was part of the 19th-century temperance movement. He believed that minimizing pleasure and stimulation of all kinds, coupled with a vegetarian diet anchored by bread made from wheat coarsely ground at home, was how God intended people to live, and that following this natural law would keep people healthy. His preaching was taken up widely in the midst of the 1829–51 cholera pandemic. His followers were called Grahamites and formed one of the first vegetarian movements in America…” Wiki

Joseph Gayetty is widely credited with being the inventor of modern commercially available toilet paper in the United States. Gayetty’s paper, first introduced in 1857, was available as late as the 1920s. Gayetty’s Medicated Paper was sold in packages of flat sheets, watermarked with the inventor’s name. solitary…

Warrior Point Lighthouse (built 1889) situated on Sauvie Island along the Columbia River to warn incoming ships of a bedrock reef that juts out from Sauvie Island into the Columbia River. As many as 2000 large cargo ships pass by this small lighthouse into Portland, Oregon each year.
