Dubai Eagle Flight: Frigging Enjoyable

The ‘Wash’ (Flash Floods)

I was standing at the low point of the ‘wash’. You could see the terraced surface moving uphill toward the tree. At some point, the heavy downpour ensues and the water races downhill over the non-absorbant terrain. The willow tree gathers enough moisture out of this feast or famine watering. I suppose it is a rare occurrence to witness a wash rapidly filling up with waters from up the way. Excuse the gabby gal in the second vid.

Big Seas off Ireland & the Little, Squeaky Windshield Wiper

I was watching this video off the south coast of Ireland and about half way through I noticed I was feeling a bit nauseus. I do not do well with rolling seas. In Alaska, I would have to practice mind control during mild swells while fishing out of Sitka. You can move forward to about 3:30 in the video to capture the best of the little windshield wiper doing its best in big seas and 100 mph winds.

Nature & the Dragon Fly: Amazing

The ever inspiring Marc Fauvet at Limp Cobra presented this Vimeo vid by Andy Holt. I was so inspired by it for a multitude of reasons: photography, videography, nature, fly fishing presentation, fly tying, habitat, entomology. If you are into insects, macro photography, fly fishing, the outdoors then you need to watch it! Even you photo buffs who focus on urban lines and rock scapes will enjoy this effort by Andy Holt. I took this screen shot during the Andy Holt Vimeo and the detail is remarkable. For the fly tier, the clarity for tying is exciting. The eye structure, the abdomen shape and ribbing lead to the possibilities of materials and flash/segmentation. The legs, darker backstrap are equally important. I have always been enamored with Dragonfly Nymphs as a fly pattern option in stillwaters.
