“Wildlife” Much too trusting…….

Moseying across a roadway, down into a residential area. Hunkered down behind some grass and shrubs. Checking me out, but then what? I seem ok? Deciding to continue grazing. I snapped the little fawn. Much too trusting.

Deer Me……

“There is a passion for hunting something deeply implanted in the human breast.” Charles Dickens

“A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity.” Sigmund Freud

“I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it’s such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her.” Ellen DeGeneres

This deer had been grazing, moving along oblivious to me in these surroundings. Suddenly the deer sensed my presence. A good minute passed with the deer frozen in this stance. I took my photos. Finally, the head raised and the deer bolted off over the rise behind. A form of snap & release from a distance perhaps.

Could Wolves Be Good? Yellowstone Wolves

Wolves Change the Course of Rivers

Very interesting, short video on the impact, the reputed good impact, of reintroducing wolves into Yellowstone. Watch the video re the symbiotic relationship within nature once wolves were placed back after a long absence.

Slow Down!!! Something May Die

Statistically speaking the stretch of road, where this sign sets passes through a ‘wildlife observation’ area, is quite dangerous. So, that said, I can see why the slaughter of deer, elk and people. Three crosses set along side the road way a short distance from this sign…probably in memoriam of the 3 mentioned on the lower right corner of the sign.

Long, straight roads with slight up and downs beg pushing ahead. But there is little reaction time once one sees the animal, especially at night.
