A State of Mind, A State of Being………..

From the Daily Mail/UK: 12 y/o Athena Orchard recently died from a cancerous tumor on her spine. After her death, the parents were tidying her room and moved a mirror leaning against the wall. On the back of the mirror they found a long list of positive phrases the young girl had posted to the backing of the mirror. 

A young girl, fighting or enduring cancer, the mind struggles and seeks positive input. She kept this secret for a later discovery for those left behind? Also, for her own passage through that ordeal? Today, for us? A state of mind, day by day, to make a choice about life, and perhaps death.

Often, I read such inspirational words and see the logic, but cannot connect to the mental mission to get there. Connecting the motivational dots to happiness. Hmm? Sometimes its there and sometimes its as if I am waving at, reaching for it, in the middle of a night’s dream….just out of reach. Perhaps we are meant to go our own way with verve?

So…I will go with: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” Hunter S. Thompson

Are you familiar with those two and three story red brick buildings that cluster together on sweeping, tree lined streets? Business parks, in areas just outside the urban boundary, that house all manner of upscale businesses, consultants and wood paneled walls. This morning I arrived a bit early and sat waiting in my rig as it rained. Preparing for yet another ‘let’s get motivated & focused’ session re ‘sales and the sales person’s personality’. Which is really saying how to manage ops and egos. So, this photo was eye catching from afar.

Another reminder to shake off those Winter blues, doldrums; shake off the mental sludge. I didn’t get any Winter Steelheading in…not one time. So, this hunkered down, staring at the four walls is a very tired option.

I have been tying a bit. Planning a trip here or there. The gear is setting about, being inventoried and fondled. The truck needs a good cleaning. The back needs some serious rearranging to make room for the gear. Yes, it is indeed time to get out from underneath the mental and physical restraints. Work out the kinks in the legs and hips and look up toward the distance. Good things coming………….

Aren’t I just positively inspiring?
