Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Montauk, UFO’s…….

It is the weekend, most of you are out fishing. We are on a train headed for Seattle. So, I thought I would provide a few details about at NW favorite: Bigfoot or Sasquatch. I take no position on any of it. Fakers and fraud abound, but that is a side show to what could be out there. Or so they say. These two sites are interesting to peruse and consider, if you spend much time deep in the woods of the NW (Oregon Bigfoot).

Does Bigfoot/Sasquatch rank as funky dementia say like the Montauk Creature of UFO/Alien abductions? Just some light fun to pass the time and shake your head..up/down or sideways?

New Business Opportunity…UFO Response Team

I am fortunate to have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a federally funded operation. I have a ready fleet that has been outfitted to highlight our new mission…A UFO Response Team. Much like the storm trackers you see scurrying about on Mid West back roads, my elite team will scurry about remote sections of the West…cataloging sitings and contacts. When opportunity knocks, I put down the lap top and get off my rear to answer that door! Another side benefit, and I know you already thought of this, is they will be near remote waters affording some fly fishing.

Eagles’ Legend Dead (What would you think?)

“Multnomah County Library offers free and legal music downloads; one of the country’s oldest eagles dies”

The Oregonian lead jumped out at me. Wow, who died? Was it Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmit, Don Felder, Randy Meisner, Bernie Leadon? I mean I was suddenly sitting in Todos Santos in the Hotel California on a bar stool listening to ‘….on a dark desert highway…”  Ok, I hadn’t had my coffee yet.

Nope, the odd headline was about a Bald Eagle (no a real Bald Eagle…a bird!). Damn, odd bit of reporting but I thought it was fitting for my 2,000 post here at SwittersB. Certainly, along the way, I have reported equally fitting minutiae. Happy Valentine’s Day too!

“Sad news out of Alaska this morning. The Anchorage Daily News reports on the death of a bald eagle considered one of Alaska’s oldest — indeed, one of the country’s oldest — eagles of its kind. The paper reports that the 25-year-old bird was killed last month when it was electrocuted.
“It would be, based on the bird-banding record that I’ve seen, one of the top 10 oldest birds ever recorded,” said Robin Corcoran, a wildlife biologist from the Kodiak Island National Wildlife Refuge. The eagle’s death was first reported by the Kodiak Daily Mirror.   The death was of high interest to raptor biologists, who have no other way besides recovered bands to confirm the ages of mature wild eagles.” The Oregonian

Life = Pilliing (Livin’ It?)

Life = “…pilling is the formation of small, fuzzy balls on the surface of a fabric. It detracts from the appearance of the fabric, making it look old and worn, and it is often difficult to restore a garment with fabric pilling to its original condition. Certain types of fibers and weaves are more prone to fabric pilling than others, but it is often a normal part of wear and tear.”

Pilling Along The Way (SwittersB)

Live your life. Pills are a normal part of life. If you haven’t got any, what the hell are you waiting for? If you do, embrace them your sorry son of a bitch!  Ok, I just watched “We Were Soldiers” A bit over inspired, perhaps.

No, I recently ran into an old acquaintance from another life of say 25 years ago. A life boxed and compartmentalized for  sanity’s sake. He remarked about some ol’ timers he had run into from the old, hard days and how those men all were stuck back in negativity and the past. We shook our heads knowing it was wasteful, but looking over our shoulder to be careful negativity was not looming. I raised my glass to that old friend and saluted where we had been, and more importantly, where we were now. In the present! To the past (if you can remember it) and to the present and future. Rough up that fabric. Oh, psycho babble aside, if the lid on the box is ajar; close it.

4 Feet, 8.5 Inches (I wonder if……?)

I have seen this little piece before and enjoy it each time I read it. The one about U.S. rail track widths being a long historical progression from the Roman’s chariots. I have it passed on by fun loving retirees, who receive all manner of Internet minutiae from other retirees. But, I thought I am going to snoop a bit on this one, and did. Don’t put too much mental energy into it, but just in case in the next decade or so at a BBQ some besotted type launches into this in a slurred, all knowing voice and your patience level just reaches that 5 beer level…then let him have it!
