Decay…

The peeling away of life’s illusions, life’s protective barrier & perhaps life’s necessary traditions.

The Corner………

“I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms….” Henry David Thoreau

“When I was a child  I caught a fleeting glimpse  Out of the corner of my eye.  I turned to look but it was gone   I cannot put my finger on it now  The child is grown,   The dream is gone.   I have become comfortably numb.”  Pink Floyd

Keeping Secrets…Sharing the Rust

“And when at last you find someone to whom you feel you can pour out your soul, you stop in shock at the words you utter— they are so rusty, so ugly, so meaningless and feeble from being kept in the small cramped dark inside you so long.” Sylvia Plath

Idle

“The first supermarket supposedly appeared on the American landscape in 1946. That is not very long ago. Until then, where was all the food? Dear folks, the food was in homes, gardens, local fields, and forests. It was near kitchens, near tables, near bedsides. It was in the pantry, the cellar, the backyard.”

Out the Back Door: Forgotten

Seedy, blue collar bar: It was a warm night. The air conditioning was not working. The front and back doors were propped open seeking some kind of breeze. I checked out the back door and to me it appeared the area wasn’t visited much anymore. I like the forgotten, over taken, eroding, rustic spots especially when they are right out the back door from the struggling to stay in business present.

Imagination in the Rust Belt

The earth revolving, the emerging sunrise marching across earth, islands, an eclipse, continents, volcanos, oceans and rust…all on an old fry pan hanging outside on a fence. Sometimes you just see what is and other times the imagination is tweaked.
