frequent snoop…

You think I’m daffy?”     “Don’t be offended by a snap judgment. It’s true of anyone who cares about squirrels.”  Edward W. Robertson, Breakers

squirrel searching…

‘OK, where’s the bird seed?’

The bushy tailed squirrel perused every corner of the covered patio looking for food no doubt. I took shots through a window. Eventually, the squirrel scaled my tripod and sat/stood staring at me. It was humorous combination of subject matter and a photographer’s implement.

Squirrel scratches itch….

I saw this squirrel from some distance away….the shots had all manner of visual distractions to either side of the squirrel atop the fence (focus/blurring issues). So the shots are severely cropped, contrasted and sharpened. The Grey Squirrel sat there for the longest time and then scratched under its forearm, before scurrying away to the right. Still, I wanted to share this little guest I see running his route up the tree…across the garage roof…onto the fence top…down the fence to the next tree…gather and return…several times a day.

Nature: Squirrels Protecting the Hole in the Wall

Squirrel SentinelsPhotography: I came upon these 3 vigilant squirrels along a twenty yard piece of shoreline. Their eyes were not focused upon me. They were looking to my left. They were frozen. I took the shots and nary an ear twitched. Perhaps it was something alarming them from my left, or it was me and an ‘if we don’t move, he won’t see us and our hole in the wall’. These were fat, bushy grey squirrels.

For me, the lack of motion and the stillness in the air was intriguing. They seemed to sense something that I was oblivious to. Oh, perhaps it was my wife hung up on an invisible snag for the third time?

Sic Semper Tyrannis

C. S. Lewis on Do Gooder Tyranny

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
