Lost in late life…

prayers and sincerest best wishes for those that care for their older loved ones. The challenges, the heart ache, the fear and frustrations are profound. The reality of aging and decline in our loved ones coupled with no rest for the weary takes an enormous toll. Just trust you are loved and respected from afar and before you.

past times…

Strive as one may, one’s past times (hobbies/passions) can be relegated to the bin of past times. Life’s struggles, relentless at times, change the mind’s focus and when the pressures let up, not surprisingly those old hobbies seem distant. I have vowed to make every effort, through the Winter doldrums, to prepare for fly fishing, fly tying, photographing the garden, just plain getting out to reconnect. Inertia sets in and the mind seems to retreat to a lazy state.

Easy does it now!

“Researchers, more than a decade ago, found that more fatal heart attacks occur on Christmas Day than any other day of the year. The 2nd busiest day is December 26th and the 3rd busiest is January 1st.  The pattern has continued for so long that health care workers coined the term “Christmas Coronary.” Heart Health

Slow down…easy…collect your thoughts…deep breath…think now…it will all get done and what doesn’t is fine…peace on earth? How about inside your head, heart and stomach? Oh, I’m not immune, but I must remind myself too to slow down the mind, the pace, the intensity. Easy does it now…….

The Grind…….

“Let us pause in life’s pleasures and count its many tears,
While we all sup sorrow with the poor;
There’s a song that will linger forever in our ears;
Oh hard times come again no more.

Tis the song, the sigh of the weary,
Hard Times, hard times, come again no more
Many days you have lingered around my cabin door;
Oh hard times come again no more.”

Hard Times, Popular Song, 1854

Wheels Turning….

“There’s nothing worse than taking something into your head: it turns into a revolving wheel that you can’t control” Ugo Betti

Ruminations, on and on, be damned. You consume my mind, my life. How to escape, how to turn toward something, someone that takes these harsh, spinning wheels from my mind?  Peace be with you. Blessed peace of mind. Take my hand, be still. For now be still.
