vintage for sale…

“I’ve always had a keen sense of history. My father was an antiques dealer and he used to bring home boxes full of treasures, and each item always had a tale attached.” Sara Sheridan

“Sometimes the people who’ve owned the books in this shop leave little clues between the pages, and not just love notes or pressed flowers. You might come upon an unused Amtrak ticket tucked between the pages of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes or a sprinkling of crumbs along the gutter inside The Complete Engravings, Etchings, and Drypoints of Albrecht Dürer. Makes you wonder what kind of person noshes on a salami sandwich over The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.” Camille DeAngelis

strolling the beach for treasures…

“Words today are like the shells and rope of seaweed which a child brings home glistening from the beach and which in an hour have lost their luster.” Cyril Connolly

Keepsakes Tucked Away………

In the beginning, your mind is fresh and you readily remember where things are kept. Those special treasures, keepsakes that are organized. But, in time, they are tucked away, not out of disrespect, but just because that is how your life becomes…disorganized and tucked away.

We are in the midst of moving now. I have learned I had a penchant for tucking keepsakes into books, magazines, between things. I have found fun, meaningful treasures from my children. Long forgotten, but capable of transporting me back decades to simpler, gentler, innocent times.

Be careful where you store your treasures, your memories along the way. If you are not careful, you may lose them.

the Burning House Question: What would you save?

“If your house was burning, what would you take with you? It’s a conflict between what’s practical, valuable and sentimental. What you would take reflects your interests, background and priorities. Think of it as an interview condensed into one question.”  the Burning House

Echard Wheeler's selection

Interesting concept. Of course, the selections are made slowly and thoughtfully for the sake of the photo, but interesting none the less. What would you pick, say 10 or so things and how would you lay it out?
